Watch Video : No Retirement in Politics! Inside the Electrifying Launch of Sushil Kumar Shinde’s Memoir

On Monday evening, I had the privilege of attending the much-anticipated launch of Sushil Kumar Shinde’s memoir, Five Decades in Politics. And let me tell you—it was electric!

The event kicked off with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge making a powerful statement: “There should be no retirement age in politics.” He passionately argued that those dedicated to public service should continue their work till the end—words that truly set the tone for the evening.

Then, the man of the hour, Sushil Kumar Shinde, took the stage. Reflecting on his incredible journey, he shared heartfelt gratitude for the support he received from Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. Shinde’s emotional words highlighted how Sonia Gandhi’s decision to make him Maharashtra’s Chief Minister in 2003, despite being a Dalit, was a monumental move: “Only Sonia ji could have done it.”

The crowd was moved, the applause was endless, and the respect for this political stalwart was palpable. If you haven’t grabbed Five Decades in Politics yet, do it now—it’s more than just a book; it’s a saga of courage, hard work, and determination!
