Knockout Performances

This Courtroom comedy could not have been entertaining without the entire cast of Maamla Legal Hai. At its centre is Ravi Kishan portraying the character of VD Tyagi, the president of the Patparganj Bar Association, whose eyes are set on winning the Delhi Bar Association election. Ravi Kishan, who has never been seen in such a role before, delivers a stellar performance. He seamlessly transitions between a shrewd and an affable lawyer, who exhibits his street-smart tactics and knowledge of legal loopholes. Nidhi Bisht plays Sujata, a mid-career lawyer who dreams of her own legal chamber despite not having represented a single case all these years. Ananya Shroff played by Naila Grewal is a passionate advocate from Harvard University who dreams of providing legal aid to the poor and underserved but faces a harsh reality check in Patparganj district court.

The cast also features several established actors such as Tanvi Azmi as a judge; Yashpal Sharma as VD Tyagi’s rival; and Brijendra Kala as a veteran lawyer.

Courtroom comedy with a touch of emotions

Maamla Legal Hai touches upon the fact as to what is the reason behind VD Tyagi being the person he is. There is a backstory to his cunningness and he truly is a survivor. The simplicity along with a fair balance of humour comes from the mind of Sameer Saxena, who serves as the showrunner of the series. He has previously worked on creating comedy shows like Kota Factory (2019), Gullak (2019) and Panchayat (2020). He likes making comedies that are subtle. In Maamla Legal Hai too you will get  subtle hints of satire along with wit and humour. The comic one-liners and the dialogues are some of the finest you will see in recent times. The situations are funny but still relatable.
